Roman villa Desenzano del Garda

The Roman villa in Desenzano del Garda is the most important archaeological evidence of the great late antique villas in Northern Italy.

The remains, discovered between 1921 and 1923, go back to periods from the end of the 1st century BC to the 5th century AD and distinguish themselves by the wonderful mosaic floors.

The villa was located in a very scenic area, just north of Via Gallica, which connected Bergomum, Brixia and Verona, not far from the shore of Lake Garda, today just a few meters away.

Within the archaeological site there is a large green area and the Antiquarium, showing objects from the villa.
